Group Workshop Programme · South London · Ages 10–18
The
Production Lab
A 6-week group music production programme for young people. Each term, students work through five creative Engines — building and finishing a real piece of music from scratch.

The Programme
Six weeks.
One finished track.
The Production Lab is built around a single principle: students should leave with something real. Not a set of exercises. Not a grade. A piece of music they made — from idea to finished export — using their own decisions at every stage.
Each session is structured around one of five creative Engines. Together, they take students through the complete process of making a track: rhythm, harmony, sound identity, arrangement, and finishing.
Sessions run for approximately 105 minutes. Groups are kept small to ensure every student gets direct feedback and the space to take genuine creative risks.

01 · Rhythm · Feel · Pulse
Groove
Make something move.
Rhythm, feel, and the foundation of musical movement. Students build and lock in a beat — and understand why certain rhythms make people move. The groove is the contract between the music and the listener.

02 · Harmony · Melody · Structure
Foundation
Give it a home.
Chord structure, melody, and harmonic identity. The architecture of a track — what holds it together and gives it a sense of place. A strong foundation means every other decision has something to build on.

03 · Sound Design · Artistic Voice
Identity
Sound like yourself.
Sound design and artistic decision-making. What does your music sound like — and why? Students begin to develop a recognisable voice. Identity isn't found. It's built, one deliberate choice at a time.

04 · Arrangement · Dynamics · Tension
Energy
Take them somewhere.
Arrangement, dynamics, and tension. How a track pulls the listener through time — build, release, contrast, and resolution. A track without energy is a collection of sounds. Energy turns it into a journey.

05 · Mixdown · Export · Presentation
Finish
Know when it's done.
Mixdown, export, and presentation. Getting a track to a place you can actually share it — and understanding what "done" means as an artist. Finishing is a decision. Students learn to make it confidently.
Week 6
Integrated
Challenge
The final session brings all five Engines together. Students present their finished track, explain the decisions they made, and receive peer and tutor feedback.
Present your finished track to the group.
Explain every decision you made — not what you did, but why.
Receive peer and tutor feedback.
The goal isn't perfection. It's intentionality.
